Eight students from our Keystone Club, a prestigious national leadership program for teens, recently traveled to Atlanta to attend the annual Keystone Conference. Under the theme “United and Brave: Get Loud,” the conference featured keynote addresses by renowned speakers like Dr. Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Lemon Anderson, American poet, spoken word artist, and actor.
Members engaged in enlightening breakout sessions designed to build leadership skills and delved into a college and career expo to explore potential paths for their futures. Between sessions, students had opportunities to connect with peers across the country in the conference game rooms or on the roller skating rink.
Adrianna Beliard, a standout Keystone Member who recently graduated from Stamford High School, enjoyed the sessions that emphasized mental health and identity. She shared, “I enjoyed the sessions that encouraged personal reflection. We were able to share experiences with one another and connect on a deeper level.” Adrianna also appreciated sessions on developing and protecting mental health, which will be helpful as she prepares for her next chapter as a college student at the University of Bridgeport.
