What inspired you to become a counselor at the Boys and Girls Club?

I was inspired to become a counselor at the Boys and Girls Club due to my passion for working with children and my desire to make a positive impact in my community. Growing up, I benefited greatly from having mentors and positive role models in my life, and I wanted to pay it forward by providing support and guidance to young people who may not have access to similar resources.

Tell us a little about your role here and the types of clubs or programs you are involved with.

As the Clubhouse Program Director, my primary responsibility is to oversee the development and implementation of our programs, ensuring they align with the mission and values of the Boys & Girls Club. I work closely with our professional staff and dedicated volunteers to create a rich and diverse array of activities catering to our three core program areas: promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering academic success, and nurturing good character and leadership skills among our members. Additionally, I actively participate in various program initiatives.

What do you enjoy most about working with children and youth?

I like working with kids and teenagers because seeing how curious they are and how they grow and mature is really rewarding for me. Also, I feel happy knowing I can help them develop into the best possible version of themselves and make a positive difference in their lives.

What are your favorite BGCS traditions or annual events?

Some of my cherished BGCS traditions and annual events include our festive holiday gatherings, the enjoyable Family Fun Night, the thrilling Summer Fun Talent Shows, and the rewarding experience of traveling with the teens for their annual Keystone Summit. These events not only bring joy and excitement but also foster a sense of community and togetherness among our members.

What is one thing that you wish more people knew about the Club?

One important thing to know about the Club is that it helps children grow by providing a safe place, supportive adults, and programs that cover academics, character, and health. It’s about creating a positive future for our community’s youth.
